On Thursday 4th of June, in one of Moscow’s most beautiful settings – the Trellised Terrace on the rooftop of one of the oldest mansions on Tverskoy boulevard – the long-awaited opening of the summer season will be held, including the official pre-party for the Usadba Jazz 2015 International Festival. Regulars at this venue already know that the Turandot Restaurant terrace is a flowery oasis at the heart of the noisy metropolis. The trellises are deliciously strewn with wild vines – while the paths are laid-out like avenues blooming with hydrangeas and roses. In all, it makes the summer terrace even more welcoming and harmonious for guests.
The highlight of the evening will be a concert by the Russo-American rock-group The Red Elvises – whose work is best-known for their music for the soundtrack of the film The Six-String Samurai, by director Lance Mungia. The film was very well received, winning a Slamdance award for best editing and best cinematography. The group cover genres including surf, punk, rockabilly and folk. The band’s name stems from a mixture of Elvis Presley’s name and the soviet-era past of the band-members. Their songs are all performed in English and Russian.
Turandot Restaurant’s Head Sommelier recommends a delicious bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne as accompaniment to the evening, and as a pleasant addition to the open-air entertainment in such an attractive setting can offer a selection of shisha (hookah) pipes with a variety of flavours.
